The Oast
Surrounded by four acres of organic garden and orchard, the oast has a sense of total
privacy. Perfect for those seeking a place with peace and quiet to enjoy for meetings
or celebrations, relaxation and to explore new levels of well-being.
Oast houses were originally built for drying hops when Kent farmers grew most of
the hops for the British brewing industry. As most of the hops are now imported 90%+
of oast houses have been converted into homes - with big spaces and high ceilings.
You’ll find that the space here is well utilised.
We have created this place from passion. The colours, the atmosphere, the energy,
the pictures, the furniture, all reflect our passion for creating an inspiring, relaxing
environment. We figure there's nowhere else like it - and not because we're biased,
but because we've looked. Never ones to follow trends in interiors, the oast is filled
with vibrant yet restful colours, lush fabrics, and earthy yet contemporary furniture.
We have a 40” Sony Bravia HD LCD TV in the downstairs lounge - useful for presentations
- and a wireless broadband connection. Bedrooms are deliberately kept free of TVs
and other electrical wot nots to give your head space from the outside world. There’s
an interesting library of books, funny DVDs and an eclectic mix of CDs available
in the lounge.
Rooms you’ll find at the oast:
Conservatory - meeting/dining room, table seats up to 12.
Green Room - open plan room with french windows to courtyard - used for meetings
- tables can be laid as requested from 4 up to 12 people - day courses, workshops,
with chairs set out as needed - up to 30 in theatre style and 22 in a circle. Yoga
room and quiet, peaceful room for meditations.
Gold Lounge - informal zone, two comfortable, large sofa's, large open log fire,
40” Sony Bravia HD LCD TV for presentations/screenings, watching inspirational films
or simply the ‘chill out’ zone for guests.
Country Kitchen - large well equipped country kitchen with Aga and Rangemaster.
Residential accommodation:
4-8 people in four large double bedrooms
- super-king size bed and en-suite bathroom (master suite)
- king-size (pink room)
- standard double (blue room)
- super-king size double bed with double futon (attic room)
- Pink, Blue and Attic room all share large bathroom (with Victorian roll top bath,
shower, bidet)
